Amber began her career in cosmetic surgery 15 years ago and has an in-depth understanding of the full range of procedures, divergent surgical techniques, approaches and specialities and the limitations of surgery.

Amber Raine is an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor and Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).

An Appearance and Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor, Amber began her career in cosmetic and plastic surgery 15 years ago and has an in-depth understanding of the full range of procedures, divergent surgical techniques, specialist approaches as well as the limitations of skin healing treatments and surgeries. She understands the significance and impact of starting your skin healing journey; and that your journey will have a unique history and meaning to you.

As part of The London Scar Clinic’s Multi Disciplinary Team, Amber works alongside our consultants and patients. Amber is committed to raising standards for patients and clinics by providing a link to seamlessly integrate the physical aspect of having treatment or surgery with a patient’s emotional and psychological well-being, so that the patient is treated and cared for as a whole person. She provides patients with a much-needed layer of psychological care and support as they make decisions about their skin and bodies, which will impact them for life and hopefully enhance it.

Amber has worked extremely closely alongside patients and surgeons, being present during surgeon consultations and all stages of the patient journey, from initial consultation to post-op care. Amber feels privileged to have gained a deep insight into the patient journey and experience and the wide-ranging and complex feelings and motivations which patients have shared with her, which she draws on as a Therapeutic Counsellor and Appearance Counsellor in her work with patients at The London Scar Clinic.

Amber’s role at The London Scar Clinic is to support consultants and patients with the psychological aspects of skin healing. An important part of our commitment to providing our patients with outstanding and holistic care is being able to offer our patients complimentary initial psychological consultations where helpful, to explore their understanding of how their treatment might impact them and to ensure that the necessary psychological support is in place for them at all stages of their treatment.

Away from her work at The London Scar Clinic, Amber offers mid and long-term therapy to enable patients to explore their self-esteem and body image in depth as well as to support them with life transitions, relationship and family issues, divorce, parenting, procrastination, their patterns of relating and their broader happiness.

ARRANGE A CONSULTATION

"I just want to say that I have been so impressed by the approach of the London Scar Clinic. You really care about your patients and want what’s best for them long-term, beyond the initial treatment. You really took the time and effort to find out what was right for me, taking into account my history and current life situation. I really appreciated the psychological support and would absolutely recommend you."

"At my consultation my consultant explained that it can sometimes be very helpful to liaise with a psychological support team for scar management, which made sense in my case. Amber got in touch and we talked about my expectations of having the treatment and it helped me realise that whilst it would improve the appearance of the scar I still would benefit from looking at other issues about how I feel about myself, so that I could get the most out of my treatment. Amber was able to discuss various options for the best type of counselling for me as I didn’t know where to start. It’s been so helpful. Thank you."

"I am very grateful for the support I received. I’d had quite a bit of trauma in my life which resulted in some self -harm. I was really nervous about getting in touch. Amber called me back and was very caring and knowledgeable. I didn’t have to go into too much detail about my past, it was more about working out if I might need any counselling support as I went through my treatment now. I was really impressed by the level of care. Thank you for your kindness and all your care’."
