Scar Laser Treatment

The London Scar Clinic is proud to own a number of high-end lasers allowing treatment of a vast range of skin problems. Scar laser treatment can be used to target a wide range of scar characteristics, for example: redness, texture, pigmentation, volume loss etc. Commonly our lasers help to treat acne scarring, burns, raised scars, post-surgical scars and more.  

The London Scar Clinic current owns the Co2 Ultra-pulse Lumenis laser, M22 Lumenis laser, Cynosure PicoSure and Cynosure Cynergy PDL allowing us to offer a vast range of laser-based treatments for scarring.

Is the laser treatment for scars painful?

Each of our lasers come with a different degree of discomfort, our Co2 laser being the most uncomfortable. The sensation is different for everyone depending on individual pain thresholds however a common description is a elastic band ping or a sunburn. The clinic offers numbing cream before laser appointments or the use of injected local anaesthetic. 


How long does the scar laser treatment take?

The numbing cream will be applied for between 30-60 minutes depending on which laser you are having done. The treatment time itself will depend on the area being treated, smaller scars can take a number of minutes or full face acne scarring can take up to one hour.  


How many scar laser treatments are needed for scars?

Number of treatments required is based on many factors such as your scar type and how well your body responds to the laser. On average patients tend to require between 3-6 treatments.
